Not so very long ago, on a cold winter afternoon, Anne invited a group of friends over to rekindle their interest in knitting. Some of these friends brought their daughters. Everyone began learning and relearning their knitting technique. Scarves, then ponchos, sweaters, and afghans emerged amid lively conversation.
We came to love our knitting group so much, we were sure others would like to get together and knit too. Then someone said, "Wouldn't it be fun to open a store with couches and tables arranged around a fireplace?" The dream was born.
String of Purls opened its doors on November 1st 2003. Susie Buffett and Robyn Hubbard were the original proprietors. Robyn, having just sold her family's convenience store business, was looking for something fun to do. Susie brought her natural talent for creating bright, whimsical decor. Voila! String of Purls became a relaxing, congenial environment where knitters and crocheters can shop and share ideas and tips about the newest technique to the latest patterns. It took us a year to lure Anne Ginn away from corporate America. In 2004, she became the third partner and contributes Anne Made Designs.
Today, we continue to enjoy building our dream, constantly finding the newest most interesting yarns. Our shop and web site offers depth of selection, prompt service and instruction to our customers.
